Laramie Art Guild hosts Chuck Egnaczak

Chuck Egnaczak from Works of Wyoming
presented the LAG with two sessions discussing
The Business of Art.

Chuck gave the members of the LAG
pointers on self-promotion, approaching galleries, as well as
pros & cons of websites, blogs, and Facebook
accounts.

Egnaczak's dynamic personality got all the members

of our guild involved in his presentation and started us
thinking about our individual goals.

Chuck asked each member questions
to make sure that everyone
interacted with him and other members of the guild.

George in Green

George posed for the LAG again this month. I realized after I started painting that I had not brought any blues whatsoever and I had only permanent green light. Most of this was rendered in Burnt umber, burnt sienna, cadmium red light, yellow ochre & permanent green light. Upon returning to the studio I mixed phthalo blue and burnt umber together to form the darkest darks.

Today 4 members of the LAG, Tony & Sandra Guzzo, Joanne Ramsey, Jeanie Schlump and a guest, Adam Adkison painted our model during a 2-hour session. This is Jeanie Schlump's acrylic in progress. Because no one finished, we took some reference photos and will complete the portrait from a photo-reference shot. Live observation of the model is always good practice and preferable to copying photos.

LAG had a live model pose last month for our usual 2 hour session.  This is the acrylic underpainting created by Jeanie Schlump on a sheet of canvas pad.  Live models are provided free of charge once a month to LAG members.

LAG Potluck Picnic

The Laramie Art Guild had their annual potluck picnic at LaPrelle Park in July. Guild always furnishes baked and fried chicken and members bring sundry items. Inger Mehring was kind enough to share these pictures with us.
