Roger S
Watercolor sketch from photo
Today Jeanie Schlump tried to paint
from an old photo of Roger.
This painting went through a series of transitions.
Now it is starting to resemble the man.

Grey is never just Black & White!
A common mistake made by amateur painters is
mixing black and white to make grey.
I painted this as an example when I taught
Beginning Painting just to show how
COLORFUL greys can be.
This has an under painting wash of colors
topped by dry-brush applications of texture.
